Motorcycle leather racing suits — motorcycle leathers — are the full-body layer that stands between a rider and the tarmac. Every suit here is cut from full-grain cowhide 1.3–1.4 mm or kangaroo 0.8–0.9 mm, triple stitched with high-strength bonded nylon thread, and fitted with CE Level 2 armour at the shoulders, elbows, knees and back. All suits are made to the rider's own measurements and delivered worldwide in 19 to 28 business days.
This is the full range: one piece race suits, two piece jacket-and-trouser sets, and fully custom builds for men and women. Suits are available in team liveries, plain black, and unlimited custom colourways, with perforated, partially perforated or non-perforated leather, optional speed hump, removable lining, and matching racing gloves and racing boots.
Which Type of Leather Suit Do You Need?
| Suit type | Best for | Browse |
|---|---|---|
| 1 piece race suit | Track days, circuit racing, fast road riding | 1 piece suits |
| 2 piece suit | Sport touring, commuting, mixed road use | 2 piece suits |
| Custom / made to measure | Own design, colours, logos and race number | custom suits |
The practical difference is the waist. A one piece has no join that can separate in a slide and is accepted at every circuit. A two piece relies on its connecting zip but lets you wear the jacket on its own off the bike.
Armour: What CE Level 2 Actually Means
Impact armour is rated at Level 1 or Level 2 under the European standard. The rating measures how much force passes through the armour to the rider in a controlled impact test: Level 2 transmits about 20 kN, Level 1 about 35 kN. Less transmitted force means less energy reaching bone and joint.
Every suit in this collection uses CE Level 2 armour at every position, not only at the shoulders and elbows:
| Body area | Standard | Level |
|---|---|---|
| Back | EN 1621-2:2014 | Level 2 |
| Shoulders | EN 1621-1:2012 | Level 2 |
| Elbows | EN 1621-1:2012 | Level 2 |
| Knees | EN 1621-1:2012 | Level 2 |
The armour is KeepTech, independently tested and certified by Ricotest, European Notified Body No. 0498, Pastrengo, Italy, under EU Regulation 2016/425 as Category II PPE, carrying CE and UKCA marks. Two armour sets are available — a premium ventilated compound and a standard perforated foam — both fully Level 2, differing only in breathability.
Please note: the armour is independently CE certified. The leather shell is not certified as a garment.
Why Full-Grain Leather
Full-grain is the outermost layer of the hide, where the fibre structure is densest. That density is what resists abrasion when a rider slides. Split, bonded and PU-coated leathers are cheaper and lighter but tear rather than abrade, and are never used here. Cowhide at 1.3–1.4 mm is the standard racing weight; kangaroo at 0.8–0.9 mm gives comparable abrasion resistance at lower weight and is the choice of most professional racers.
Seams matter as much as hide. Main seams are triple stitched with high-strength bonded nylon thread, because a suit that holds together at the panels is what keeps the leather between you and the road. Stretch panels at the crotch, calves and underarms, plus accordion leather across the lower back and above the knees, let the suit follow a racing crouch. See how it's made.
Made to Measure as Standard
Every suit is cut to order, so a made-to-measure fit costs no more time than a standard size. Fit is a safety feature, not a comfort preference: armour only works while it stays over the joint it protects, and a loose suit lets armour migrate during a crash. Send your measurements with the size guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a made-to-measure leather suit take?
All suits are made to order and delivered worldwide within 19 to 28 business days. Custom measurements do not add to that time.
What is the difference between Level 1 and Level 2 armour?
Level 2 transmits roughly 20 kN of force in the standard impact test compared with about 35 kN for Level 1, so significantly less energy reaches the rider. All armour in this collection is Level 2 at every position.
Is cowhide or kangaroo leather better for a race suit?
Kangaroo is lighter for equivalent abrasion resistance, which is why most professional racers use it. Full-grain cowhide is thicker, harder wearing over many seasons and less expensive. For track days and road riding, cowhide at 1.3–1.4 mm is the practical choice; for racing where weight matters, kangaroo at 0.8–0.9 mm.
Should I choose perforated leather?
Perforated leather ventilates far better in hot conditions but slightly reduces abrasion resistance in the perforated panels. Partial perforation — vented chest and leg panels with solid leather at the impact zones — is the usual compromise for hot-weather riding.
Can I have my own colours, logos and race number?
Yes. Colours, leather patchwork logos, rider name and race number are all specifiable on any suit. See custom made suits and jackets.
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes, with the same 19 to 28 business day window. Full armour documentation is on the protection and safety page.
