What Makes a Racing Boot Different From a Riding Boot?

• Ankle bracing — rigid internal cups on both sides of the ankle that resist the sideways twist that causes most riding foot injuries
• Toe slider — a replaceable hard plastic puck that takes the abrasion when a boot touches down in a corner, so the boot itself is not ground through
• Reinforced heel and toe counter — resists crushing if the bike lands on the foot

Do racing boots go inside or outside the suit?

Inside. A one piece leather suit is cut so the leg closes over the top of a tall race boot, sealing the ankle. Wearing a boot over the suit leg leaves the join exposed and can catch on the footpeg.

Are toe sliders replaceable?

Yes. Toe sliders are bolt-on and designed to be consumed and replaced. Replace them once the slider has worn close to the boot leather.
