1 Piece vs 2 Piece Motorcycle Suit: Which Should You Choose?
The practical difference between a one piece and a two piece motorcycle suit is the waist. A one piece is a single sealed garment with no join that can separate in a slide, and it is accepted at every circuit. A two piece is a jacket and trousers joined by a zip — slightly less secure at racing speeds, far more usable off the bike.
If you ride on track, buy a one piece. If you ride mostly on the road and want to wear the jacket on its own, buy a two piece. This guide covers the detail behind that.

The Connecting Zip Is the Whole Argument
Not all two piece suits are equal, and the difference is the length of the zip that joins the halves.
- Short zip (rear only) — typically 15–25 cm across the back. The jacket can still ride up at the front and sides in a slide, exposing skin at the waist. Most circuits will not accept this for track use
- Full 360-degree zip — runs the entire way around the waist and keeps the two halves locked together as one garment. This is what track regulations generally require, and what every two piece suit at Bleed Racing Gears uses
With a full 360-degree zip the safety gap between one piece and two piece narrows considerably at road speeds. At sustained racing speeds the one piece still has the edge, because there is no join at all.
What Track Day Organisers Actually Require
Requirements vary by circuit and by organiser, but the common rule is a one piece leather suit, or a two piece that zips together fully around the waist. Some race series and advanced track groups mandate a one piece regardless of zip.
Always read the technical regulations for your specific day before you book. Turning up with the wrong suit means not riding.
Armour Is Identical Between the Two

The armour is KeepTech, tested and certified by Ricotest, European Notified Body No. 0498, Pastrengo, Italy, under EU Regulation 2016/425 as Category II PPE. Level 2 transmits about 20 kN in the standard impact test against roughly 35 kN for Level 1.
The armour is independently CE certified; the leather shell itself is not certified as a garment.
Leather Is Identical Too

Can I wear the jacket from a 2 piece on its own?
Yes. It functions as a standalone leather motorcycle jacket with its own shoulder, elbow and back armour. That is the main practical advantage of a two piece.
How long does a custom suit take to make?

Should a leather racing suit feel tight?
Yes. A new suit should feel firm and slightly restrictive standing upright, and correct once you are sitting on the bike. Leather relaxes and moulds to you over the first few rides. A suit that feels comfortable standing up is too big — and a loose suit lets armour migrate off the joint it protects during a crash.
